CALLIOPE: Is that a tree?
RONAN: It's an abstract interpretation of a tree.
CALLIOPE: It looks like a green broccoli.
RONAN: Broccoli is just nature's tree.
CALLIOPE: Your 'tree' is floating in mid-air.
RONAN: Gravity is optional in art.
CALLIOPE: My painting is even worse.
RONAN: What is that? A blue cloud?
CALLIOPE: It's a majestic mountain range.
RONAN: It looks like a melted popsicle.
CALLIOPE: The colors are supposed to bleed.
RONAN: They didn't bleed, they collided.
CALLIOPE: It's an emotional collision.
RONAN: I feel the emotion of confusion.
CALLIOPE: That means it's working!
RONAN: We are geniuses, Calliope.
CALLIOPE: We are in a beginner's class, Ronan.
RONAN: Even beginners can be maestros.
CALLIOPE: Maestros don't use their fingers to blend.
RONAN: Fingers provide a personal touch.
CALLIOPE: Your 'personal touch' is all over the canvas.
RONAN: Art should be tactile.
CALLIOPE: This is just messy.
RONAN: Messy is the new precise.
CALLIOPE: Look at the teacher's painting.
RONAN: It's too realistic.
CALLIOPE: It's actually a picture of a forest.
RONAN: Boring. Where are the neon purples?
CALLIOPE: Why did you use neon purple for grass?
RONAN: Because it's a magic forest.
CALLIOPE: The assignment was 'local scenery'.
RONAN: I live in a magic world.
CALLIOPE: You live in an apartment in Ohio.
RONAN: Ohio is magical if you look closely.
CALLIOPE: I looked closely, and I saw a cornfield.
RONAN: Exactly! Golden corn, purple grass.
CALLIOPE: You are delusional.
RONAN: Delusion is the spark of creativity.
CALLIOPE: My spark just burnt my canvas.
RONAN: Why is there a hole in your painting?
CALLIOPE: I pressed too hard with the palette knife.
RONAN: Now it's a 3D piece!
CALLIOPE: It's a 3D disaster.
RONAN: We can call it 'The Void'.
CALLIOPE: The Void of my wasted tuition.
RONAN: Stop being so negative.
CALLIOPE: I am being honest about our skills.
RONAN: Skill is just following rules.
CALLIOPE: Rules help you make things look real.
RONAN: Real is boring. Give me surrealism.
CALLIOPE: Surrealism usually has a point.
RONAN: My point is that purple grass is cool.
CALLIOPE: It's not cool, it's an eyesore.
RONAN: An eyesore that demands attention.
CALLIOPE: The teacher is coming over.
RONAN: Act professional.
CALLIOPE: How? We are holding paintbrushes upside down.
RONAN: Just look thoughtful.
CALLIOPE: I am thinking about leaving.
RONAN: Shhh, here she comes.
CALLIOPE: She's staring at your broccoli.
RONAN: See? She's captivated by the form.
CALLIOPE: She looks horrified.
RONAN: That's just artistic shock.
CALLIOPE: She's asking why there's paint on the ceiling.
RONAN: I was experimenting with gravity.
CALLIOPE: You threw a brush, didn't you?
RONAN: It was an impulsive stroke of genius.
CALLIOPE: Now we are getting kicked out.
RONAN: We were too advanced for this class.
CALLIOPE: We were the worst in the room!
RONAN: That just means we're unique.
CALLIOPE: Unique is not a substitute for talent.
RONAN: Talent is overrated.
CALLIOPE: Not when you want to paint a tree.
RONAN: My broccoli-tree is a masterpiece.
CALLIOPE: It's a vegetable, Ronan.
RONAN: A beautiful, purple vegetable.
CALLIOPE: I can't believe we are friends.
RONAN: We are bonded by our failures.
CALLIOPE: That's a very large bond.
RONAN: Like my broccoli!
CALLIOPE: Stop talking about the broccoli.
RONAN: It's my child now.
CALLIOPE: Please don't name it.
RONAN: I'll call him Barnaby.
CALLIOPE: Great, now I have to know a painting.
RONAN: Barnaby is very proud of us.
CALLIOPE: He's a blob of acrylic, Ronan.
RONAN: A blob with a soul!
CALLIOPE: Your soul is made of paint.
RONAN: It's a colorful soul.
CALLIOPE: I'm going to wash my hands.
RONAN: Use the blue paint for soap!
CALLIOPE: No!
RONAN: Just kidding.
CALLIOPE: You are a menace.
RONAN: A creative menace.
CALLIOPE: Let's just go home.
RONAN: Can we take Barnaby?
CALLIOPE: Absolutely not.
RONAN: He'll be lonely here!
CALLIOPE: He can talk to the other failures.
RONAN: That's a very supportive community.
CALLIOPE: Just move, Ronan.
RONAN: Fine, but Barnaby stays in my heart.
CALLIOPE: And on your shirt.
RONAN: It adds character!
CALLIOPE: Character is not a replacement for a laundry machine.
RONAN: I love art!
CALLIOPE: I love silence.
