The Coffee Shop Chaos
About this story

A customer tries to order a drink with too many modifications.

MIKE: I want a latte.
ELARA: Any specific milk?
MIKE: Oat milk, please.
ELARA: Size of the drink?
MIKE: Medium, but in large.
ELARA: What does that mean?
MIKE: Large cup, medium coffee.
ELARA: Just order a large.
MIKE: No, that is too much.
ELARA: But you want large.
MIKE: The volume must be medium.
ELARA: I will just guess.
MIKE: Do not guess, Elara.
ELARA: Then be clear, Mike.
MIKE: Half caffeine, half decaf.
ELARA: That is just coffee.
MIKE: No, it is balanced.
ELARA: Balance is for scales.
MIKE: I want it lukewarm.
ELARA: We have hot or iced.
MIKE: Warm it up slightly.
ELARA: Use your hands then.
MIKE: That is not professional.
ELARA: This order is unprofessional.
MIKE: Add three pumps vanilla.
ELARA: Vanilla is out today.
MIKE: What about almond syrup?
ELARA: We have hazelnut only.
MIKE: Hazelnut is too nutty.
ELARA: It is literally nut-flavored.
MIKE: I want a hint.
ELARA: A hint of what?
MIKE: A hint of nuttiness.
ELARA: One drop then, okay?
MIKE: Make it two drops.
ELARA: Now we are talking.
MIKE: No whip on top.
ELARA: Finally a simple request.
MIKE: But add cinnamon dust.
ELARA: Dust is for furniture.
MIKE: It is a spice!
ELARA: I will sprinkle some.
MIKE: Do not overdo it.
ELARA: I am a professional, Mike.
MIKE: Make the foam stiff.
ELARA: Like a brick?
MIKE: Just firm enough, please.
ELARA: I will try my best.
MIKE: Can you add honey?
ELARA: Honey is for tea.
MIKE: Put it in anyway.
ELARA: It will taste weird.
MIKE: I like weird tastes.
ELARA: Your taste is questionable.
MIKE: My palate is refined.
ELARA: Refined means complicated here.
MIKE: Is that a compliment?
ELARA: Not even close, Mike.
MIKE: Now the temperature again.
ELARA: I already did that.
MIKE: Make it precisely sixty degrees.
ELARA: I do not have thermometer.
MIKE: Use your intuition, Elara.
ELARA: My intuition says leave.
MIKE: I am a customer!
ELARA: You are a headache.
MIKE: I just want coffee.
ELARA: Just drink water instead.
MIKE: Water has no flavor.
ELARA: Neither does your logic.
MIKE: That was quite harsh.
ELARA: Coffee makes me honest.
MIKE: Give me the cup.
ELARA: It is not ready yet.
MIKE: Why is it taking long?
ELARA: Because of the drops!
MIKE: Two drops take seconds.
ELARA: I had to find them.
MIKE: Use a dropper, Elara.
ELARA: We are a cafe, Mike.
MIKE: Buy some equipment then.
ELARA: With what money, Mike?
MIKE: The coffee money, obviously.
ELARA: You barely pay anything.
MIKE: I use coupons, Elara.
ELARA: Coupons are for babies.
MIKE: They save me dollars.
ELARA: Your drink is ready.
MIKE: Is it sixty degrees?
ELARA: It is hot enough.
MIKE: I can tell you lied.
ELARA: Drink it or leave.
MIKE: I will take it.
ELARA: Thank you, goodbye now.
MIKE: Wait, where is cinnamon?
ELARA: In the trash, Mike.
MIKE: You are very mean today.
ELARA: Come back tomorrow, please.
