The Coffee Shop Clash
About this story

Two strangers fight over the last blueberry muffin.

MAN: I saw it first.
WOMAN: My hand touched it first.
MAN: Touch is not ownership.
WOMAN: In this cafe, it is.
MAN: That's not a rule anywhere.
WOMAN: It is in my heart.
MAN: Your heart is stealing my muffin.
WOMAN: It's a blueberry muffin, not a diamond.
MAN: To me, it is a diamond.
WOMAN: You are very dramatic for 8 AM.
MAN: Hunger makes me an artist.
WOMAN: An artist of complaining.
MAN: I just want my breakfast.
WOMAN: I also want my breakfast.
MAN: We can split it!
WOMAN: No, the middle is the best.
MAN: Then we both want the middle.
WOMAN: Exactly. A stalemate.
MAN: I have a coupon.
WOMAN: Coupons don't grant priority.
MAN: This one is for 'Priority Muffins'.
WOMAN: That's not a real thing.
MAN: It's on the fine print!
WOMAN: You are making things up.
MAN: I am innovating the system.
WOMAN: Innovation shouldn't involve theft.
MAN: It's not theft if it's contested.
WOMAN: It is if I'm holding it.
MAN: Your grip is weak.
WOMAN: Try me, muffin man.
MAN: I am not a muffin man.
WOMAN: You're acting like one.
MAN: Let's settle this with a game.
WOMAN: I don't play games before coffee.
MAN: Rock, paper, scissors!
WOMAN: No.
MAN: Please! One round!
WOMAN: Why are you so obsessed?
MAN: It's the last one today.
WOMAN: They make more every hour.
MAN: These were the 'special' ones.
WOMAN: Special how?
MAN: More blueberries per inch.
WOMAN: You actually measured them?
MAN: I have a system.
WOMAN: You and your systems.
MAN: Systems ensure quality.
WOMAN: Your system is just greed.
MAN: Greed for fruit!
WOMAN: It's still my muffin.
MAN: Look, there's a crumb on it.
WOMAN: So?
MAN: The crumb makes it imperfect.
WOMAN: I love imperfections.
MAN: Then you can have the crumb.
WOMAN: I want the whole thing.
MAN: You are a cruel woman.
WOMAN: I am a hungry woman.
MAN: What if I buy you a coffee?
WOMAN: I already have one.
MAN: A better coffee?
WOMAN: No such thing as 'better' espresso.
MAN: This place has a gold roast.
WOMAN: Gold roast is overpriced.
MAN: But it's fancy.
WOMAN: Fancy doesn't taste like berries.
MAN: Just let me have the muffin.
WOMAN: Say please.
MAN: Please give me the muffin.
WOMAN: Not good enough.
MAN: Please, oh great Muffin Queen!
WOMAN: Better. Now say I'm a genius.
MAN: You are a genius of greed.
WOMAN: That's an insult!
MAN: It was a compliment in disguise.
WOMAN: No disguise worked here.
MAN: Fine! Just give it to me!
WOMAN: Nope.
MAN: Why not?
WOMAN: Because I like the struggle.
MAN: You enjoy this torture?
WOMAN: It's the highlight of my morning.
MAN: My morning is a nightmare.
WOMAN: A delicious, blueberry nightmare.
MAN: I can't believe this.
WOMAN: Believe in the muffin.
MAN: I believe you are a thief.
WOMAN: I am a winner.
MAN: The prize is flour and sugar.
WOMAN: And blueberries!
MAN: I'm calling the manager.
WOMAN: Go ahead, tell him about your system.
MAN: He'll agree with me!
WOMAN: He just wants us to leave.
MAN: We are leaving! As soon as I eat.
WOMAN: You aren't eating anything.
MAN: This is a tragedy!
WOMAN: It's a comedy of errors.
MAN: The only error was meeting you.
WOMAN: Yet here we are.
MAN: Still holding the muffin?
WOMAN: Still holding it.
MAN: I'll trade you my bagel.
WOMAN: Is it everything or plain?
MAN: Everything!
WOMAN: Now we're talking.
MAN: Deal?
WOMAN: Deal.
MAN: Finally, victory is mine.
WOMAN: You just traded a muffin for a bagel.
MAN: It was a strategic move.
WOMAN: A very confusing one.
MAN: But I have the bagel.
WOMAN: And I have the berries.
MAN: We both win.
WOMAN: I win more.
MAN: Stop it!
WOMAN: Enjoy your everything, Muffin Man.
MAN: I hate this cafe.
WOMAN: See you tomorrow?
MAN: Probably.
WOMAN: I'll save you a muffin.
MAN: Liar!
WOMAN: Maybe.
MAN: Ugh!
